2015 Lenten Reflection
Bonhoeffer: Discipleship
“True Grace Comes from Costly Sacrifice”
Our Lenten series this year will meet on the Wednesday evenings of February 25, March, 4, 11 and March 25. We will meet each evening at 6 pm to share a simple meal, engage in discussion and prayer. This series will focus on learning about the life, times, spiritual practices and teachings of 20th century spiritual giant, Dietrich Bonhoeffer. We will incorporate the use of film, readings, discussion and prayer as our guides on this journey. Dietrich Bonhoeffer was a Lutheran pastor in the German Confessing Church during the Nazi years under Adolf Hitler. His deep immersion in Scripture called him to work against tyranny and political injustice. In the words of biographer Eric Metaxas, “There is something about the life of Bonhoeffer that helps us today know what it means to be a Christian.”
